Primary parent council issues road safety plea
The parent council has been working with the school, East Renfrewshire council and local police for the last 18 months to address speeding and irresponsible parking.
Chair Simon Cunningham told The Extra: “Work has been done to widen the crossing, to allow more children to cross at once on Clarkston Road.

The latest bid to improve safety is the introduction of a second lollipop person for the Linnpark Avenue junction.
Simon added: “This is on a trial basis to assess how busy this junction is, with a view to a long-term solution being reached.”
The parent council chair has issued a further plea to parents to use designated parking.

“We still have a lot of work to do, but every step we’ve made is a step closer to enabling our children to travel to and from school safely.”
An ERC spokeswoman added: “We would urge parents and members of the public to park and drive responsibly and respect parking restrictions around the school.
“The safety of all our children is our priority and of paramount importance, and we would ask everyone to work with us on this.”
