Diamond couple celebrate special event
Romance blossomed and they were married five years later on November 25 1955, in the EU Congregational Church, Carluke, with a reception in the Welfare Hall.
John was working as a coal miner and Mary a “motor omnibus instructress”. They lived in Kirkfieldbank, then returned to Carluke.

Hide AdJohn, 81, and Mary, 80, have kept active. They were members of Castlehill Bowling Club where John still plays, and they are keen walkers and country dancers. They have two daughters, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
