Online artists...Floating folding Screen by Hannah Lim and Hugo Harris is among the artwork featured in No Borders.

No Borders features more than 100 original pieces of affordable art from 30 Scottish artists, including Eric Cruickshank, Shipei Wang, Craig Coulthard and Hannah Lim.

It was set up by Hugo Barclay, owner of contemporary visual arts agency Art Thou.

The online exhibition launched on July 4 and will run until September 30, with 20 per cent of proceeds earmarked for Maggie’s.

Hugo said: “Times like these have made us all reflect on our societies, our systems and what is really important.

“I set up No Borders as a competition inviting artists to submit artwork around that theme because, regardless of our political, social and cultural affinities, we all need to come together to support each other as best we can.

“It is a positive initiative to encourage generosity, championing some of the best emerging artists coming out of Scotland and supporting Maggie’s, which helps some of the most vulnerable in society.

“Art and architecture and the belief this can uplift emotions is at the core of all Maggie’s Centres so I believe our online offering is a great fit.”

Hugo and his partner moved to Spain in January for work and have been stuck there in lockdown ever since.

He said: “During this time, my father-in-law was unfortunately diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“Being stuck in Madrid, while all our family are home in Scotland, has been tough.

“Maggie’s is a charity that’s close to my heart having supported family and friends in the past.

“That’s why it made perfect sense for us to partner with Maggie’s, which offers support for so many people living with cancer, especially during these tough times.”

Pieces in the exhibition are affordable and inclusive, ranging from £200 to £500.

Maggie’s relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to help people with cancer and their loved ones take back control.
