A MARTIAL art which traditionally allows its unarmed exponents to defeat armed or armored opponents is now being taught at Carluke’s Castlehill Industrial Estate.
Planet Jiu Jitsu owner and head coach Steven Thomson (43), of Paddock Court, Carluke, oversaw the club’s official opening on Saturday.
“I think this club is a really good thing to bring to Carluke,” he said. “It will introduce people to a self defence system that they would never have known otherwise.
“Practising jiu jitsu can let weaker, smaller people defeat larger opponents.
“It is proven to work and can be a great confidence booster for lightweight fighters as they go into the ring against musclebound guys covered in tattoos.”
