GMP have recently announced their fixture list for the new campaign, which incidentally will be subject to the First Minister relaxing restrictions, when spectators will be allowed to attend and in what numbers.

Race manager Dave Borthwick commented: “May will see the practice sessions take place and we are hoping that the 40th season of GMP will see the first meeting taking place on May 22 and after that as full a season’s racing as is possible. “Depending on the number of spectators allowed we might try live streaming although again that could depend on how many fans would be interested.

"However, we will have to wait for the First Minister’s decision although we might have to run a few closed door events.”

Local man Forster and his fellow Formula II drivers will be looking forward to June 26 and 27 when they will share a double header with the Crimond Raceway.

Both tracks will stage World Championship Qualifying rounds but at Crimond the Formula II Challenge is up for grabs whilst on the Sunday the drivers have their Scottish Championship at stake.

World champion Gordon Moodie (Windygates) will be hoping for a good weekend’s racing. Not only is he looking to pick up a lot of qualifying points but he is also defending the Scottish Championship.

Steven Burgoyne (Airth) was the winner of the FII Challenge last time it was run and he will be keen to retain the trophy.

The season’s events will run through until October.

There is another Crimond/Racewall weekend on October 2 and 3 when both tracks have a round of the Formula II National Series whilst on the Sunday at the Racewall the Geo Mac 100 trophy is also up for grabs where Liam Rennie (Kilsyth) will be defending the trophy.

The season comes to an end over the last weekend of October with the running of the Champion of Champions event with Garry Sime (Dundee) defending.

Amongst the new faces in the Formula IIs are Mika Millar, Graeme Leckie, Scott Paterson and Ross Lawrence.

There are also numerous other trophy meetings that will be up for grabs including a new one – the Jim Clark trophy.

The Saloon drivers too look to have a busy season in store and on Sunday, June 27 they share a Scottish weekend where Ian McLaughlin (Auchterarder) will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of wins.

With the likes of Graeme Anderson (Douglas), Colin Savage (Stonehouse) and the Shevill brothers Graeme (Clelland) and Stuart Jnr (Motherwell) on the grid then it has all the makings of a pretty hectic affair.

Just after the holiday break on July31/August 1, the saloon drivers will be racing for their European Championship, with Daniel Parker defending, where the action will be rather hectic to say the least.

The qualifying heats will determine the grid positions for Sunday’s Championship race where a Cowdenbeath roar will be heard as the winner crosses the finish with the decibels rising even higher if it is a Scottish driver leading the cars home.

The season ends with another weekend meeting where the saloon drivers will take top billing as they race for the Superbowl where Diggy Smith will defend on the Saturday night. Whilst they have a round of their National Series on the Sunday, Matty Stirling will also defend the Gordon Barclay Memorial Trophy.

New saloon drivers this season will be Gary Paterson, Jack Beresford and Brandon Morton whilst Andy Ainslie, Callum Smith and Logan Bruce had closed door outings last year.
