CARLUKE sisters Pamela and Emily McNicol were to the fore as Law and District AAC won an incredible 22 medals at the West District Championships in Kilmarnock.

Pamela (15) triumphed in the under-17 80m and 300m hurdles races, while Emily (14) equalled her PB leap of 1.60m to grab silver in the under-17 women’s high jump.

While some of Law and District’s medal success came via athletes from Motherwell and Wishaw, there were other Clydesdale-based members who also finished in the top three positions.

Biggar’s Jade Keisler won the under-15 girls hammer contest, while fellow Law and District members Luke Foss (Biggar) and Jonathan Kennedy (Lanark) finished first and second respectively in the under-20 men’s steeplechase.

Gregor Gillespie (Lanark) ran a fine second place in the under-17 800m, before rushing out to start the 400m final just 20 minutes later. Understandably tired, Gregor finished fifth in the 400m.

Luke’s sister Katie Foss won bronze in the under-13 girls javelin, while Carstairs girl Hannah Stark took silver in the under-20 women’s 800m.

Charlotte Steele (13) from Lesmahagow, won the under-15 javelin and discus, with further Law and District glory provided by Carluke’s Rachel Hunter (11) winning the under-13 long jump, finishing second in the 100m and third in the 200m.

The final Clydesdale medallist was Biggar’s Leah Keisler (10), who was third in the under-13 shot putt.
