LANARK mixed martial arts fighter Joanne Calderwood has won her debut bout at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.
Her bout with France’s Noellie Molina at the On Top 4 event was the first professional all-female fight held in Scotland and it was a winning start for Joanne, who won the fight after a ground-and-pound attack in the first round.
It is a new direction for the 26-year-old cage fighter, who gave up her job as a nursing support worker to pursue her dream of being a world champion MMA fighter.
She specialised in Muay Thai fighting from the age of 16 and has won 18 of 20 professional fights in the discipline, collecting British and European titles along the way.
