After the misery inflicted by coronavirus over the past year, it has been tremendous to see golf clubs remaining open in Scotland over the past few months albeit with social distancing measures in place – courses in England finally reopened this week – and it is to be hoped that there will be enough kind weather over the next few months to allow plenty of play at courses throughout the country.

Results from the Opening Day Gents Stableford at Carluke GC on Saturday were: Division 1 – 1st Danny Gardiner 38pts, 2nd Fraser Merriweather 35pts, 3rd John Hunter 35pts; Division 2 – 1st Fraser Dickson 40pts, 2nd Brian Dunne 39pts, 3rd Phil Henderson 38pts; Division 3 – 1st Stewart Greacen 42pts, 2nd Jamie McIntyre 40pts, 3rd John Waddell 39pts.
