The former Cambuslang Rangers man – brought in just four weeks ago – netted a double to seal derby success and move Rovers fourth and just one point off the League Two promotion places.

“Kieran was very good again,” Carluke Rovers chairman Ian McKnight told the Carluke and Lanark Gazette.

“He has set a standard for himself since he came to the club.

“Kieran has played in three games and scored in every one, immediately impressing us with his goalscoring prowess.

“He seems to be a penalty box striker with good movement.

“He’s linking well on the left wing with Sam Biggart, who’s been supplying the crosses for Kieran’s goals.”

“Hopefully he can maintain this goalscoring form.

“It is our aim not to lose contact with the league’s top three teams.

“We don’t want to be any more than six points behind the third placed side by the end of October.

“We are relatively pleased with the way things have gone so far and want to stay in touch.

“Every team among the top six or eight is beatable.

“There is an even keel in the standard of play and it will be interesting to see what happens as the season goes on.”

Ian admitted that he knows “virtually nothing” about Aberdeen-based Glentanar, whom Rovers will visit this Saturday in a second round Macron Scottish Junior Cup tie which kicks off at 2.30pm.

“Glentanar are a young, attack minded team,” he added.

“It is important to have a good cup run.

“The most important thing is we get a wee run to boost the finances.

“It is very important we maintain steady revenue streams by getting four or five games out of the Scottish Cup.”
