Two refereeing decisions branded “incompetent” by Carluke Rovers’ hierarcy denied them a win at Vale of Clyde on Saturday.

Rovers deservedly went ahead on 35 minutes when Lafferty shot home at the near post, after Haley’s delivery from the right.

Early in the second half, the referee inexplicably awarded Vale a penalty for handball and the spot kick was converted.

And Rovers’ fury intensified when a long ball appeared to be controlled by the Vale forward’s arm but he was allowed to go on and score for 2-1.

But Rovers snatched a point on 70 minutes when Biggart scored a penalty awarded for handball when a Vale defender ‘saved’ a Biggart volley.
