Carluke teen Jack Nicholas wins Scottish Boxing Championship

CARLUKE schoolboy Jack Nicholas has claimed another Scottish Boxing Championship – and is now setting his sights on winning the British title on home soil.

In the 57kg class, featherweight Jack (14), who trains at Cleland Amateur Boxing Club, produced an outstanding display of boxing to outpoint his rival 14-10 at the Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherwell.

And Carluke High pupil Jack will be hoping for a repeat performance when he bids to win the British title later this month at the same venue.

One of Jack’s trainers, Ronnie Blackburn, said: “The British Championships are not far away and if he keeps working hard he will be in with a great chance.”
