Malky said that the current annual rental fee of £11,145 was “unsustainable” and Rovers faced the nightmare prospect of folding ‘within a few seasons’.

Carluke Rovers is a large part of the community which has been there for 127 years,” the fedora-wearing supremo added. “It would be sad if the club ceased to be.”
