Debt crisis...this week's Lanark Gazette
Debt crisis...this week's Lanark Gazette

WE might be the Easter holidays but it has still been another busy for the Gazette reporters.

Shocking new statistics show that Clydesdale came second highest in an average outstanding debt table covering regions across the whole of Scotland while those fighting to save the historic and scenic countryside between Lanark and New Lanark spent Easter showing the public what they might lose if quarrying plans for the area go ahead.

The General Election is certainly in full swing and we spoke to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Scottish Tory Leader Ruth Davidson as they hit the campaign trail in Clydesdale this week.

There are a variety of different picture specials in this week’s Gazette including Lanark Pipe Band’s trip to New York for Tartan Day, Saturday’s Spring Craft Fair in Carluke Lifestyles Centre and the spectacular Biggar Twirlers show plus we have an exclusive interview with former X-Factor champ Joe McElderry ahead of his show at Lanark Memorial Hall next month.

It’s all in this week’s Gazette, priced at 80p.
