The classical music phenomenon pioneered by international star Andre Rieu is coming to Lanark Memorial Hall.
Performed by The British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra Ensemble, ‘A Viennese Strauss Gala’ will be staged on Saturday, April 16.
It offers a fabulous evening of music from Vienna capturing the wonderful waltzes, galops and polkas of the Waltz King himself Johann Strauss II.
The programme includes The Thunder and Lightning Polka, Trirsch Tratsch Polka, The Blue Danube, Roses from the South and many more.
It is a concert style that has been become a global phenomenon courtesy of Dutch violinist and conductor Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra whose worldwide tours have played to thousands of fans.
The British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will introduce you to Fritz the waiter (Mark Langley) in his little café in old Vienna as he recalls the great composers and celebrities he and his family have served.
With the help of his guests Fritz brings back the glories of Strauss, Lehar and Viennese Operetta, all in his distinctly Viennese style.
Along with the orchestra, conducted by Anthony Kraus, the evening will feature a number of solo vocalists Marilyn Hill Smith (soprano), Andrew Forbes Lane (tenor) and Jeremy Peaker (baritone).
