Symington Tinto Village Day 2014 Slideshow

WASHOUT weather failed to dampen the spirits of those who attended Tinto Village Day at Symington Sports Club last Saturday.

Among several popular attractions, there was a record number of entries in the pet show, judged by Katie Melanby.

The overall Best-In-Show was won by the black labrador Iona, owned by young Madeline Forgie.

“We had a really good turnout despite the wet weather,” said Jane Stevens, one of the day’s main organisers. “This event has been going on for several years, with the format being the same for the past 10 or 11 years.”

Fancy dress competition winner Aiden White quite literally blew away his opposition. Aiden, a P1 Tinto Primary pupil, impressed judge David Tinto by dressing up as a windmill.

A total of 52 participants took part in the Cross Clyde Race, which traditionally sees runners dipping a foot in the River Clyde during a two-and-a-half mile contest. Respective overall men’s and women’s winners were Stuart Ferguson and Claire Cowan.
