Led by Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI), local volunteers will tidy up the sensory garden, and help to clear the once popular walk around the park which has vanished under the seasons expansive plant growth.

The sensory garden was completed in September 2017 and has been an amazing asset for the entire community. It looks beautiful every season but at present requires some TLC to refresh and maintain it before winter sets in.

Then, on October 23 from 10am to 12pm, CCI will provide expert advice and training on pruning and caring for orchard trees in the sensory garden at Kirkfieldbank Park. This will help the Kirkfieldbank Community Park Group to care for their orchard and hopefully help produce some extra fruit next year.

These open sessions have been organised in collaboration with Community Action Lanarkshire (CAL), as part of the CCI Environmental Volunteering programme.

Anyone looking to find out more, and to register to come along for either day, should contact CCI via email at: [email protected] or call them on: 01555 664 211.

Tools, tea and coffee will be provided by CCI, but volunteers should bring along their own packed lunch.
