£18 million council savings announced
CUTS to Clydesdale’s Registry service as well as rises in council house rents and burial charges were agreed at a heated council meeting on Thursday.
As previously reported in the Gazette, South Lanarkshire Council was forced to find around £18 million in savings in its 2015/16 budget.
How this was to be achieved became a bitter row between the controlling Labour group and the SNP opposition.
