SSPCA appeal for information
The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after an injured dog was found on the walkway at Cardies Bridge, off Brownlee Road, Law.
A member of the public made the discovery on March 30 and contacted the animal rescue charity.
The male fox red Labrador was taken to a nearby vet where he sadly passed away from the injuries he had sustained.
Scottish SPCA inspector Heather Lawson said: “We are appealing to the public for any information relating to this incident.
“The fox red Labrador was found at around 9am in the popular walking area of Cardies Bridge.
"We are not sure how long he would have been there.
“Due to the extent of his injuries, the dog would sadly have been caused a considerable amount of pain and suffering.
“If anyone saw anything or has any information that could help us determine how this dog came to be injured and abandoned, please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
The Scottish SPCA is the only animal charity in the UK which is able to report animal cruelty cases to the Crown, with reports sent to the Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service.
It is currently in the midst of an urgent appeal, airing online and our TV screens, to raise funds to continue its vital work.
The charity receives no government funding and prides itself in not putting healthy animals to sleep.
