DESPITE widespread rumours, the visit to Lanark Racecourse last week by a large group of travelling people did not result in any major disorder.
Many people, unaware that they were there for a properly organised Christian rally, feared that the course was being invaded and an unauthorised campsite being established.
However, it was a fully legitimate booking of part of the course from South Lanarkshire Council by the Life and Light Missionary movement.
The party duly moved off the site at the end of the five day booking last Thursday and the police say that only one incident was reported to them during that time, one of vans being raced on the course, causing damage to the turf.
