New community hub set to open next week

A multi-million pound new community hub which will incorporate a village library is set to be officially opened next week.

The £5.29 million Lennoxtown Community Hub is set to open its doors to the public on Monday, February 8, offering a range of services under the same roof for the first time.

Customers of Lennoxtown Library will suffer short-term service interruptions this week as the facility moves to its new home.

While library staff pack up and prepare there will be no library service from today (Wednesday, Febraury 3) until Friday, February 5, inclusive.

Lending services will resume on Monday, February 8, at the new Hub

The payment kiosk, used by customers to pay council tax, rent or for other council services, will not accept cash on Thursday, February 4, although credit and debit card payments will be accepted

The payment kiosk will not be available for payments of any kind on Friday, February 5.

Ann Davie, East Dunbartonshire Council’s Director of Customer Services & Transformation, said: “Customers who normally use the payment facility should consider either making their payments earlier, before the building closes or making payments at the Post Office. Alternatively, please check our website (www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk) for information on alternative ways to pay.

“I understand that this short-term interruption to service may be inconvenient but I hope this early notice is helpful. We are working hard to keep disruption to a minimum and local people should reap the benefits when the new Community Hub opens its doors.”
