The ghost of little Annie McLeod will be in for a real treat this Friday, November 13, if she’s anywhere near the Mill Cafeteria at New Lanark, as that is where Music in Lanark will be paying host to Kosmos.
Kosmos is a dazzling trio comprising Harriet MacKenzie (violin), Meg Hamilton (viola), and Milos Milivojevic (accordion).
The music may be hard to describe.
It is said that Kosmos re-defines the relationship between classical and world music.
Gypsy, Jewish and Greek music glide into hot-blooded tango, Japanese and Arabic melody, referencing classical composers including Brahms, Dvorak and Sarasate, performed with “telepathic rapport, dazzling virtuosity, serious scholarship, intellectual curiosity and impeccable musicianship”, according to Richard Morrison, chief music critic of The Times.
As Kosmos is sure to appeal to such a wide range of music lovers this concert is likely to very popular so make a point of getting your tickets early.
Please note that and be sure to remember that this performance is on a Friday, November 13 at 7.45pm not the usual Saturday!
Individual concert tickets (Priced £12.50, or £1 for those of school age) can be purchased online from www.musicinlanark.co.uk, in person or by phone (01555 667999) from Lanark Memorial Hall Box Office and tickets are also available at the door.
