Mrs Grace Abernethy has been chosen as Lanark’s Sashing Lady in the 2016 Lanimer celebrations.
In Lanark she is well known for her work with St Mary’s Church, where she is a lay reader, and extraordinary minister of communion.
She is also a worker behind the bar at many functions there.
She is a volunteer in the St Andrew’s Hospice Shop, and a classroom assistant in Kirkfieldbank Primary where they call her ‘Mrs Grace’
Grace is also well known in Crossford, where she lived for 30 years and where she was instrumental in setting up the local playgroup.
Grace, pictured here with Loraine Swan who chairs the Lanimer Committee, will sash new Lord Cornet Gordon Jess after the Marches on the Monday evening of Lanimer Week.
