Plans to launch a family-oriented fishery in his home village of Law have helped Peter Waddell land a place in the finals of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s £100,000 Community Challenge.
Peter is one of six finalists who will receive three months mentoring and support, including a session with Scotland’s top entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter, before pitching his idea to a high powered Dragon’s Den, for the top award of £50,000.
Peter is passionate about building a social business that makes fishing accessible to people with disabilities and caters for families.
He said: “At the moment fishing tends to be a male-dominated sport, but I think it has huge potential to become a family activity.”
