Lanark’s Burgesses for 2015 are announced

Eight people, selected for their service to the town, will receive their Burgess Tickets from Provost Eileen Logan at a presentation in the Memorial Hall on October 6.

The Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council received a total of 27 valid nomination forms – although two of those were for people who were already Burgesses – and it chose to award eight Tickets.

Those to become burgesses are:

Tom Anderson, for his outstanding contribution over many years to Lanark United Football Club; Paul Archibald, for his outstanding contribution over many decades to Lanark Museum Trust; Karen Brown, for her outstanding contribution over many years to Lanark Lanimer Committee; Lanark Panto Club; Lanark Panto Club Juniors; and the Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council;

James Forrest, for his outstanding contribution over several decades to Kirkfield United Football Club and Clydesdale Sports Council.

William Gardner, for his outstanding contribution over several decades to Lanark Rugby Club; Emma Heggie, for her outstanding contribution over many years to Lanark Guides; Lynn Steer, for her outstanding contribution over many years to the children and youth of the community, in particular to St Nicholas’ Playgroup & Toddlers Group, and Lanark Playparks Action Group; and Bill Stewart, for his outstanding contribution over many years to the Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council, the Rotary Club of Lanark, Lanark Swimming Club, and his voluntary service with the Adult Literacy Group.
