LANARK High Street was bursting at the seams as mild weather brought shoppers out in force to the Christmas Market.
Eighty stalls offered an inspired variety of festive goodies and youngsters were delighted to have turns on the fairground attractions.
Stalls at the continental-style market were packed with all kids of food, treats and gift ideas for that someone special for Christmas.
And the good weather meant it was one of the busiest days the High Street had seen this year.
In the late afternoon the entertainment kicked off in the run up to the switch-on of Lanark’s Christmas lights.
Clyde One’s Knoxy led the fun with a host of games and music and the large crowd was soon bopping along to a Christmas Chartbusters Review Show.
Again, the mild weather ensured families came out in large numbers to enjoy the fantastic festivities.
Then, as darkness fell, Santa Claus appeared, joining South Lanarkshire Provost Eileen Logan, Lanimer Queen Paige McCulloch and Lord Cornet David Murdoch for the final countdown as the lights were switched on.
As the crowds drifted away there was definitely a feeling that Christmas was on its way!
Freelance photographer Sarah Peters was on hand to capture the action for the Gazette and her pictures are featured in our slideshow, created for your viewing pleasure by editor Julie Currie.
