Fresh appeal for help to find missing man who was seen in Milngavie

Concern is growing about a man who has been missing from his home in Balfron since Wednesday, January 6.

The police believe that a CCTV image was captured of William Miller (62) in the Tesco store in Milngavie on Wednesday, January 6 around 1.15pm.

He was then last spotted at the BP garage in Main Street, Jamestown, Alexandria around 20 minutes past midnight on Thursday, January 7, heading back towards Dumbarton, after being seen in Fentons Public House where he spent most of the evening, which is on the same road.

William is originally from West Dunbartonshire area, knows the area well and is known to frequent the Milngavie, Balloch and Alexandria areas, including local footpaths and forest walks. He does not drive and regularly uses public transport to get around.

He is described as 5ft 10” - 6ft tall and of medium build. When last seen he was wearing blue jeans, a blue & grey t-shirt, black hooded waterproof jacket with ‘DOUGLAS PARK’ logo on left breast and carrying a distinctive small black rucksack with light blue panels. He usually wears a white-faced analogue watch with a brown leather strap.

Chief Inspector Graeme MacDiarmid said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned about William’s whereabouts as it is out of character for him not to return home.

“We are currently making enquiries in these areas and I urge anyone who knows of William’s whereabouts or has seen him to contact Dumbarton Police Office on 101.”
