The drama unfolded between midnight and 1am on Sunday morning in Braidpark Drive in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire.

First, the car smashed into a 10-year-old Honda Civic, owned by media consultant David Boyes, which was parked outside his home.

It carried on for a further 50 yards, crashing into a black Volkswagen Jetta which was propelled into a garden.

The journey only came to an end when the car finally collided with a black Renault Clio, which was parked a further 40 yards away in the driveway of a house in Cunningham Drive.

Mr Boyes, 57, said he believed his car has been written off by the collision.

He said:”We didn’t know anything about it at the time.

“A neighbour came to our door around 9.30am on Sunday to say our car had been badly damaged.

“I’m in shock. I’m sure our car will be written off by the insurers because the repair bill will be more than the car is worth.

“Our car was parked half on the pavement so I shudder to think what would have happened if anyone had been walking there at the time.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said:”Around 0040 hours on Sunday, February 26, police were called to a report of a road crash involving three cars on Braidpark Drive, Giffnock.

“Officers attended and a 59-year-old man was arrested and detained in police custody in connection with alleged road traffic offences.”
