A huge number of riders supported the main party this evening (Monday) when Gordon Jess rode down Lanark High Street to be installed as Lanark’s new Lord Cornet, its Standard Bearer for the coming year.
Gordon Gray, the outgoing Lord Cornet, carried the Burgh Standard as the main party reached Lanark Cross, where the Standard would be “shifted” to Gordon Jess who would then be sashed as Cornet.
The procession was led by pipe bands from Lanark and Coalburn, and riders of all ages, including former Cornets and a very large turnout from Scottish Equi Centre in their distinctive red shirts, took part in the procession.
And, as usual, the escort for the front party was provided by the mounted police.
Here is just a glimpse of some of those who took part in the procession!
