PRACTICE made perfect for Carnwath Gala Queen Olivia Grant, First Page Callum Browning and other court members at the annual crowning ceremony in King George V Park.
The youngsters gave a stunning performance at an event blessed by sunny weather which featured a colourful procession through the town by motorised pageants and on-foot entries.
“The gala court members were brilliant,” said Carnwath Gala secretary/treasurer Tracey Forrest.
“They were so happy, smiled a lot and did everything absolutely correctly.
“You could tell that they’d been practising their curtsying and bowing since March. We were very proud of them.
“The crowning lady Mary Hamilton looked so happy and her blue and white dress was beautiful.”
Winner of the Best Turned Out Vehicle prize was the Alice in Wonderland entry by Kaimend Kids and Friends, who beat Pre-Five Group entry Cowboys and Indians into second place.
“All the floats were very good,” Tracey added. “I wouldn’t have liked to be a judge this year, because a lot of effort went into the floats.”
Entertainment in King George V Park continued during the afternoon, via attractions including a Miami fairground ride, trampoline, bouncy castle, stalls, face painting and a mini zoo featuring a duck, rabbit, guinea pig, snake and snail.
Freelance photographer Alan Rennie was on hand to capture the action and his pictures are featured in our slideshow, created for your viewing pleasure by Johnston Press Scotland communities hub deputy editor Julie Currie. Enjoy, folks!
