CARLUKE teenager Callum Simpson completed his unbelievable half marathon swim – and did an extra 20 lengths just to be sure.
Nineteen-year-old Callum, of Avon Avenue, finished the swim in eight and a half hours.
He did 21,082m over seven sessions at Carluke, Lanark and Wishaw swimming pools during the course of three days.
Having to do at least 100 lengths every session meant Callum had to count every time he reached the edge of the pool so he decided to do extra...just to be on the safe side!
He said: “All of the sessions were at least 100 lengths but the longest one I did was 250 lengths; I was absolutely buzzing after that.
“At the end of the first day I was thinking this could be a bit of a nightmare but on the second day I went out and did the huge session when I swam 250 lengths. After that the adrenaline kept me going.”
