IT will quite literally be Up, up and away for 2012 Carluke Gala Queen Nash Westwater during Carluke’s annual day of celebrations this Saturday!

For Braidwood Primary School pupil Nash (10), of Mill Edge, Carluke, has chosen hit 2009 Disney animated movie Up as the theme for the spectacular decorations brightening up her family home.

“Up is one of my favourite movies,” Nash said.

“I really like all the different colours in the film and its entertaining story telling the tale of a man and boy who fly to South America by floating in a house.

“I’m really looking forward to Saturday. I’m particularly excited about the prospect of being driven through the town in a convertible car and being crowned at the Cross.”

Nash said it was a great thrill when her name was picked out to be Gala Queen during an open draw at Braidwood Primary.

As Nash is a self confessed tomboy who enjoys playing football and computer games, she is only going to wear her Gala Queen dress for the minimum amount of time.

“I don’t like wearing dresses,” Nash said.

“I’ll be getting changed out of my Gala dress as soon as possible after attending the official lunch with friends and family later on Saturday afternoon.”
