She is fairly quiet and unassuming, but Gamlingay Love in a Mist has just been judged Britain’s top donkey.
Gamlingay Love in a Mist – or Mist to her friends – won the supreme UK champion award at the Donkey Breed Society’s show at Morton Morrell in Warwickshire this week.
“I am absolutely delighted,” owner Elma Cunningham said when they returned home to Hillhead Farm, Carluke.
“She’s a family donkey – we are all involved – and we are all very happy.”
Elma bought the three-year-old filly in Bedfordshire a couple of years ago.
She has worked with donkeys all her life, and knew there was something special about Mist from the word go.
“I’ve shown her since 2009 and she has had a glittering career,” said Elma.
