FOLLOWING claims that nuclear weapons were transported through Clydesdale last Wednesday night, urgent demands that it never happen again have been made in Holyrood.

The day after a 19-vehicle convoy allegedly carrying nuclear warheads north following refurbishent in England travelled on the M74, the area’s MSP Aileen Campbell backed an emergency motion tabled at the Scottish Parliament.

The Clydesdale MSP claims that the convoy was carrying the weapons of mass destruction back to the nuclear submarine base at Loch Long.

She said that she feared for the safety of her constituents and all living within the huge radius of fall-out should anything have gone wrong with the convoy.

“This practice is deeply worrying and poses an unacceptable risk to the people of Clydesdale,” said Aileen.
