Clydesdale Folk Club are this month playing host to one of Scotland’s newest young bands, the exciting Cherrygrove.
Nominated last year for the ‘Up and Coming Artist’ award at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, the band performs a variety of traditional songs, contemporary melodies and original material.
They have played at the 2012 London Olympics and also at Europe’s largest traditional festival, the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, France.
The six-piece comprises Marianne on guitar and vocals, Mhairi on fiddle, Sarah on harp, Grant on accordion, Heather on piano and Fergus on drums. They have built up a large, young fan base but appeal to all ages.
Their debut album No Time Like Now was recorded and produced by local musician Angus Lyon.
The gig will be held in the upstairs lounge of the Elphinstone Hotel in Biggar on Thursday, March 26, at 8pm. Admission is £8 (£6 members and £2 for school age) on the door.
