Meet Silvia the Fox '“ Silverburn's first mascot

The new mascot is the creation of Cleeves Primary School pupils Leah Prescott and Casey Bain, who beat off stiff competition to have their winning design brought to life, and won a £300 prize for their school.

Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils from five local schools – Cleeves, Gowanbank, Darnley, St Monica’s and Crookston Castle primary schools – were invited to let their imaginations run wild and design a mascot to encapsulate the spirit of Silverburn.

Each school picked their favourite design and submitted it to the Silverburn Cares judging panel.

After much deliberation, Silvia the Fox was chosen as the triumphant design, as a bright eyed and bushy tailed figure who even has her own catch-phrase: “Think out of the box, come see the silver fox”.

Other artistic submissions that made it to the final stage included Disco Silvey, Pete the Pineapple and Sparkles.

David Pierotti, Silverburn’s general manager, said: “We’d like to thank all of the pupils who entered our competition to design Silverburn’s mascot. The standard was excellent and it was tough choice.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming Silvia the Fox to our team and I’m sure our customers can’t wait to meet her.”

Susan Beaton, headteacher at Cleeves Primary, said: “Leah and Casey worked really hard together over six sessions to create their mascot and slogan. They were both so shocked when they found out they had won and are excited to see their drawing come to life.”

After a close consultation with the junior designers behind the winning mascot, the prize fund will now be used to buy toys and playground games for Cleeves Primary School.

Silvia the Fox will be making regular appearances at the centre and will also attend community, marketing and promotional events, on and offsite.
