Today we're ranking every drink you'd find in the typical Glasgow carry-out bag in 2024
The humble carry-out. An all-important aspect of Glaswegian culture, and one of the most important choice any young Glaswegian will have to make - what is my carry-out drink of choice?
It may sound silly, but there's no changing it, once you get known for drinking a certain kind of drink, that's you stuck with it. That's why today we wanted to make it that little bit easier for Glaswegians by ranking drinks you'll find in every Glaswegian carry-out definitively.
Carry-outs are a wonderful thing - you could take it anywhere (just about) - at a house party, on a bus, on a train, or even down the park (it's illegal to drink outside anywhere in Glasgow so good luck with that). For most us, a carry-out is taken back to our home or the house of a friend - so like anything in Glasgow, expect to be judged heavily based on your choice of bevvy.
Take a look below at 12 drinks you'll find in every Glaswegian carry-out ranked by myself - a man that has had more of his fair share of drinks, and very possibly slagging for said drinks in equal measure.

5. Glen's Vodka
Dear lord, who could have seen this coming? It's a half bottle of Glen's! The most versatile of the half bottles. Never will you run out of mixers: cola, lemonade, irn-bru, water, more vodka even. The vodka connoisseurs amongst us might even stick it in the freezer for a while, but you could stick this stuff at the bottom of the Clyde for 80 years and probably still be fine to drink it.
6. Tennent's
Tennent's. Old reliable. There's no surprise when you show up to a gaff with a couple of tins. At the same time, there's no judgement either. It's the safest option there is, middle of the road, boring even, but secure nonetheless.
7. Gordon's Gin cans
These little cans are pretty handy for the train - at least when you're the one drinking them - no doubt every time you hear someone playing the worst trance track imaginable from their tinny iPhone speaker out loud on the bus they're drinking one of these. Other mixed cans are available - most of the time folks are drinking the funky cocktail ones.
8. Four Loko
Four Loko is the American version of Dragon Soop - the two really are incredibly similar. If you asked us to a blind taste test between the two, there's no chance we would be able to tell the difference. What's interesting about this drink however, is the lore behind it. It only came to Britain in recent years after it was getting banned in certain states in America - much like Scotland's Buckfast panic, the USA had a Four Loko panic - due to its popularity amongst young folks and its propensity to land them in the emergency room. It gets a marginally higher spot than Dragon Soop because you can tell this charming little anecdote to folk at an afters who, more than likely, could not care less.
