TO celebrate the Commonwealth Games coming to Scotland, a new exhibition will be running for the next month at New Lanark World Heritage Site.
Bowls, Bagpipes and Books will explore the variety of sport and leisure opportunities that were available to the millworkers of New Lanark over the generations.
Original photographs, documents and oral histories will help to paint a vibrant picture of the lively social side of village life, proving there was more to the village than work!
“For many people, when they think of New Lanark they just think about the work that went on here,” said Jane Masters, heritage manager at New Lanark.
“However, New Lanark was, and continues to be, a living, breathing village with a vibrant social life.”
Bowls, Bagpipes and Books: Sport and Leisure at New Lanark Visitor Centre runs until Thursday, August 3.
Entrance to the exhibition is included in a Visitor Centre ticket.
