CELEBRATED children’s author Cat Clarke popped into Lanark’s Stanmore House School as she got ‘write’ behind Capability Scotland’s Great Scottish Book Off.

Cat, author of young adult titles including Torn, Entangled and Undone spoke to the Stanmore students about her favourite children’s book, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

Cat said: “It was a fantastic day and I had a brilliant time talking to the pupils and reading an extract from my favourite kids book. The pupils got a chance to ask me some questions; I was told that they hadn’t had an author in the school before but it just shows that literacy can be open to everyone.

“I’d love to come back again and see how they are getting on.”

Capability Scotland’s head of fundraising Margaret McNulty, said: “We are very grateful to Cat as well as to HarperCollins and Canongate for helping us to promote the Great Scottish Book Off. We hope the event captured the imagination of book lovers.”
