Library services reopened in South Lanarkshire

Libraries across South Lanarkshire have reopened after the area moved from Level 4 of the Covid-19 restrictions to Level 3 on Friday

The libraries at Rutherglen, Lanark, St Leonards, Greenhills, Biggar, Larkhall and Hamilton Town House are open on Monday to Saturday.

Meanwhile, the libraries at Blantyre, Avondale Community Wing Library (Strathaven), Uddingston and Carluke will be open on weekdays.

Visitors will be able to borrow books, use ActiveIT PCs (advance booking essential), print and photocopy.

In addition a number of leisure facilities are also open following a reduction in restrictions.

This includes the gyms at Blantyre Sports Centre, Carluke Leisure Centre, Eastfield Lifestyle, John Wright Sports Centre, Lanark Lifestyles and Larkhall Leisure Centre.

The pools at Dollan Aqua Centre and Hamilton Water Palace are also open with both offering children’s swimming lessons.

Eastfield Lifestyles, Lanark Lifestyle , Larkhall Leisure Centre will follow in the near future.

Outdoor fitness class classes will continue to run along with those on Facebook Live, while outdoor pitches are available for contact sports for under 18s use only, adults may only book a synthetic pitch for organised non-contact training.
