Stuarts Coaches boss says Carluke firm’s NOT closing
THE boss of one of Carluke’s biggest employers has blasted the “plonker” who sparked off a widespread scare over his company’s future.
The head of Stuarts Coaches stressed in the strongest possible terms to the Gazette that the firm is NOT on the verge of collapse and has NOT, as the “rumour mill” suggests, already issued redundancy notices to its near-100-strong workforce at its Castlehill base.
Company director Stuart Shevill was reacting to a Gazette inquiry following the speculation over the company’s future being raised at a meeting of Lanark Community Council.
“I’ve been asked several times if this is true and have had to say that it is totally garbage,” said Stuart.
“This all comes from when we had to cut our service from Law village and some plonker decided to put it onto Facebook or some other website that we were going to the wall.
“Unfortunately, some of our own drivers saw this and believed it. Two have actually left to go to another company!”
