IT wasn’t the best weekend for Clydesdale teams with mixed fortunes for our footballers and two heavy defeats for the rugby teams.
First of all the good news and Lesmahagow Juniors got back to winning ways by demolishing St Roch’s 6-1 in the West of Scotland Cup.
Down in Central Division Two, Forth Wanderers won 3-0 against Rossvale and continue to climb the table.
However, in Central Division One, Carluke Rovers’ poor run continued as they went down 2-1 to St Anthony’s and Lanark United lost by the same scoreline to Cambuslang Rangers after Danny Burns had his penalty brilliantly saved by the Rangers goalkeeper.
There may be plenty to celebrate in Biggar at the moment with this year’s Little Festival set to begin but the town’s rugby players weren’t smiling as Boroughmuir inflicted a heavy 50-3 defeat on the Harttreemill men and Lanark Rugby Club lost 19-0 to Cumnock in RBS West Division Three.
See Wednesday’s Gazette for all the reaction to the weekend’s results.
