IN Gazette Sport this week, we’ve got a full picture round-up from last Saturday’s point-to-point horseracing, which saw 5000 spectators flock to Overton Farm.

We also speak to Quothquan girl Rachel Barr, one of only nine people from throughout the UK to be picked as an equestrian helper at this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

There’s a full round-up of last weekend’s junior football matches, including the 1-1 draw between title rivals Forth Wanderers and Lesmahagow Juniors at Kingshill Park and Lanark United’s penalty shootout loss to Glenafton in the New Coin Automatics Cup.

We get Biggar Rugby Club head coach Derek Armstrong’s reaction to his team at last securing their status in Premier 2 for next season and also report on Lanark Grammar stalwart Roger Hynd’s induction into the Hall of Fame at Birmingham City FC.

For more information on these stories, pick up a copy of this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
