SOME of Clydesdale’s top young running talent was on display at the Clydesdale Sports Council Large Primary Schools Cross Country Championships, contested at Biggar Rugby Club.

Over 600 competitors from 23 local primary schools took part in an event organised by Shona Girdwood, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s Athletics Development Officer.

“I was extremely impressed by the standard of the kids’ running,” Shona said.

“It was the wettest, coldest and most miserable day for the kids, but everyone came through that finish line with a smile on their face.

“They loved it and were absolutely fantastic.”
