LAW and District AAC coach Lesley McNicol has revealed the source of inspiration behind her daughters Pamela and Emily earning qualification for this summer’s International Children’s Games in Windsor, Canada.

Lesley said that the efforts of their Law and District team-mate Craig Wellcoat at the 2008 Games in San Francisco – when he won 1500m gold and 800m bronze – had spurred the girls into sealing their places at this year’s event.

The McNicol sisters and their fellow Carluke High School pupils – volleyball duo Ryan Scott (Carluke) and Connor Walker (Forth) and Lesmahagow swimmer Angus Barr are the only Clydesdale representatives in the 18-strong Team Lanarkshire squad for the Windsor showpiece from August 14 to 19.
