standing on the podium at the Sainsbury’s 2013 School Games was definitely one of the highlights of the year for Carluke judo ace Michelle Boyle.
For Michelle boosted her 2013 campaign by winning silver in the girls’ +70kg category in Sheffield.
The 17-year-old won three of her four matches in the round-robin format; she only lost to eventual gold medallist Isadora Pereira, one of a Brazilian contingent who were invited to Sheffield in preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“It feels really good, to be honest, even though it’s not gold,” said Michelle. “It’s still a medal and that is what you want to try and go home with. I wanted to win gold but unfortunately you can’t win all the time.”
