LANARK Amateur Swimming Club member Euan McComish won a 200m butterfly silver medal at the Scottish Gas National Age Group Championships in Edinburgh.

And despite being seeded only seventh in the 100m freestyle final, Euan (13) showed enough grit and determination to take a bronze from the outside lane.

He was back in the pool again only 15 minutes later as part of the South Lanarkshire boys’ medley relay team – also including Lanark team-mate Billy Davies – which took silver medals in the medley relay.

Other finalists in the boys events were Billy Davies in the 100m breaststroke and Jack McComish, who reached six finals and broke seven Lanark club records.

Robyn Patrick (14) reached two finals, took 100m breaststroke bronze while Katie McIntyre earned 200m breaststroke bronze in the 200m and silver as part of the South Lanarkshire girls’ medley team.
