Lesmahagow manager keeps chequebook locked away

LESMAHAGOW Juniors boss Sandy Robertson has managed to keep the club's chequebook firmly locked in a drawer during the transfer `window'.

Thanks to last season's splurge in which 16 players were re-signed, Sandy hasn't had to make a single new signing in the lead-up to the start of the new season which begins in two week's time.

He said: "We will be looking at a few trialists during the pre-season training sessions but there's no real urgency about bringing anyone new in because, after a shaky start to the last season, the lads settled down and did the business.

"There's also the advantage of having a squad that knows each other well now."

Sandy was talking the day after Gow's first pre-season training session which he frankly admitted "could have had a better turnout."
