RETIRED American boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard is a source of inspiration for a young Lanark-based fighter making his own mark on the sport.

Cambusnethan Miners Amateur Boxing Club member Jordan McShane (16), tried to emulate Sugar Ray’s flamboyance when winning for Scotland in a three-round Junior 1996 contest against English opponent Jimmy Tyers at Motherwell’s Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility.

“Jordan really looks up to Sugar Ray for what he achieved during his career,” said Cambusnethan Miners secretary James Martin.
