Katie Barr named in GB mounted games squad

CLYDESDALE Junior Female Sports Personality of the Year winner Katie Ross has more than one reason to celebrate, as she's just been named as the only Scot in Great Britain's five-rider Pony Club Mounted Games Team squad.

The fifth year Lanark Grammar School pupil can't wait to represent her country against top opposition from America, Canada and Australia, at Draycott Manor in Derbyshire this August.

"I'm delighted to be picked," said Katie (16), a Lanark and Upperward Pony Club member for 12 years.

"I definitely think that I can help Great Britain win the tournament.

"Mounted Games involves riders taking their ponies on relay races."
