Forth aces win karate medals

MEMBERS from Forth-based Shinjutsu Karate Club excelled themselves at a prestigious national event, by recording two second places and a third at the Japan Karate Shotorenmei National Championships in Grangemouth.

Lauren Macaulay (15) was runner-up in the 13-15 Girls Kumite event, while Zenzo Dube finished second in the 16 years and over Gents Kata.

And attaining third place in the 12-15 Girls Kata was 15-year-old Gillian Crozier, of Manse Road, Forth.

Gillian's proud mum Christine, the Shinjutsu Club secretary, said: "I'm proud of the members' efforts.

"It had been a couple of years since Gillian and Lauren competed.

"It was my daughter's best karate achievement so far."
